Back On The Road

I am writing on a clear warm day on route to Houston TX for tonight's show. We wrapped up our stop a SXSW and tonight marks the beginning of the seventh week of the Devour America Tour.

Since I last updated, we have completed Western Canada, the West Coast of the US and the mountain and desert regions of Nevada, Arizona,, Colorado and Utah. We have travelled from tough winter conditions to warm sun-kissed days trekking the hot concrete of downtown Austin. Personally, the last few weeks have been highlighted by our shows in Alberta, California and a special night in Denver, where some family of mine came down from Wyoming. Im finding that this tour is bringing together some really good people and I'm continually grateful for the chance to support Dave and meet all of you.

This week brings a new leg of the tour as we cruise over to Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. Looking back on this tour, it is bizarre to imagine that we are nearing it's final weeks. The warm weather has been uplifting. It's been so long since I've seen these warm cities such as LA, Dallas and the like. The guys have switched to ice coffee but I have been keeping it real; only hot. Austin lived up to its reputation as a southern gem. Although it was a tough week in some ways, I was happy to see friends from home and follow around some of my favourite groups throughout the week. In the coming days we will be posting more Northcote videos, interviews, podcasts etc. and are starting to pull together a good idea of what may be in store for us for the next few months.

This new record and your support continue to bring new opportunities and keep me positive out here on the road. The uniqueness of this long North America tour is not lost on me, make sure to check dates and come down for a show if your city is up next. Do me a favour, grab a ticket, a Northcote record, send me a music tweet, or a baseball prediction. Here's to what's next.

Sincerely,

Matt

We're finished up on the West Coast of the US on the Devour America tour, headed back East. Today Daytrotter posted the session Stephen and I recorded in Rock Island IL back in February. Thanks to Sean, Mike and the whole team at DT. Please take a moment to check out the session HERE, and feel free to share it around.

I'm also excited to share the details of my trip to SXSW next week. I will be doing two solo shows:

Thursday, March 13th - 7PM-7:40PM at Omni Hotel Downtown Austin
(San Jacinto between 7th and 8th Sts)

Friday, March 14th - 9PM-9:40PM at Creekside at Hilton Garden Inn
(i35 and 5th St on the East end of the strip)

Hope to see some friends out to these performances. Next up on Devour America are Phoenix, Vegas, SLC and Dallas before we get weird in Austin.

Devour America & LP Update

Hi guys.

I want to drop you a quick line to say thank you for supporting the tour thus far. We have completed 14 of the approximately 60 shows and we are off to a great start. The first weekend of shows in NJ, NY, VT and MA were fantastic. In Eastern Canada we had some great nights in Halifax, Moncton and Fredericton. I was so happy to finally get back to the east side and it was awesome to see you guys out and share this new record with you. We had a few great shows in Quebec and Ontario. In particular I'd like to give a shout out to my new buds in Ottawa for a sell out crowd at Cafe Dekcuf.

Toronto was a special night. We performed songs from the new record as a 7 piece band that featured Todd Porter and company on horns, Marek Tyler on Drums, Stephen McGillivray on Bass and Blake Enemark on Lead Guitar. Yesterday, we crossed back into the US and played in Pittsburgh to a great crowd. This upcoming week we will be in the Midwest playing shows in Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Columbus and Minneapolis/St. Paul. I feel an affinity to the Midwest and I'm looking forward to these shows. I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome in the US. This tour has been such a good learning experience and a great opportunity for me to get on stage in these new cities. Currently, I am travelling with Stephen on guitar and he and his beard will be along until the Vancouver show February 23rd at the Media Club.

There has been some challenging drives due to bad weather but we remain motivated to make these shows memorable. Fresh socks, good vibes, vitaminC and new strings. Thank you for your support so far! To everyone who is up next in the Midwest and Western Canada we will see you soon!

Also I'm happy to announce that our album "Northcote" is now available for LP pre-order! As some of you know, we've been selling the LP off-stage at shows, and this will continue, but for those of you that don't live near a tour stop or missed out on grabbing a copy of the LP, you can pre-order it now on the BLACK NUMBERS ONLINE STORE.

All the best.

Matt
